30 Years of Raising Cane’s History Comes to Life Inside Pop-up Museum

In honor of Raising Cane’s 30th birthday, Owner and Founder Todd Graves unveiled a pop-up museum just steps away from the very first Raising Cane’s Restaurant, known as “The Mothership,” in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. From August 25th to September 24th, Caniacs got an inside look at the history of Cane’s through photos, memorabilia and artifacts from Graves’ journey — from the very first Box Combo to more than 1,000 Restaurants worldwide.

On August 25th, Graves kicked off the museum’s first tour inside “The Mothership” where he shared pieces of Cane’s early history that were on display, including his original business plan, the briefcase he carried while trying to convince banks to take a chance on his chicken finger dream, the hard hat from his days as a boilermaker and blueprints from the original Restaurant. Food critic Keith Lee and baker Duff Goldman joined Graves and his family for the celebration.  

The pop-up museum also included guided tours through Graves’ second-floor apartment, which has since been restored and preserved as a Cane’s time capsule. Parked just outside the museum was a display of special vehicles, including The Margaret Mae, the 1979 boat that Graves fished on in Alaska to help fund his dream, his LSU-themed Suburban, a 1967 Cadillac Coupe DeVille Convertible and the Cane’s Love Bus, a refurbished vintage school bus designed to bring Cane’s Culture of reward and recognition to Crewmembers across the country.
