Popular restaurant brand with focus on chicken fingers, community involvement, to celebrate grand opening in Downey next Tuesday
DOWNEY, CA (Aug. 25, 2016) – Chicken finger lovers in Los Angeles County can mark their calendars for the much-anticipated arrival of a Louisiana-based restaurant that stands apart for serving nothing but quality chicken finger meals.
Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers will celebrate the arrival of its first Downey restaurant on Tuesday, Aug. 30, with a grand opening to remember. The popular brand’s newest restaurant is located at 9265 Firestone Blvd., near Stonewood Mall.
The festivities begin at 9:15 a.m. with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by Mayor Alex Saab, members of the Downey City Council and the Downey Chamber of Commerce. Miss Downey, Emily Lopez, will also be on-hand and the Warren High School Band will perform.
First-time visitors will be treated to traditional cheers and other high-energy chants to launch the location in unique Cane’s fashion, compliments of its 80-85 newly hired crewmembers. Doors open to the public at 10 a.m.
To add to the excitement, the first 20 paying, dine-in customers ages 13 and older will receive Free Cane’s for a Year! In addition, the first 100 paying, dine-in customers ages 13 and older will receive a free, limited-edition Cane’s Downey T-shirt, along with a voucher for a free Box Combo – containing four fresh, never ever frozen chicken fingers, Texas toast, secret recipe Cane’s sauce, coleslaw, crinkle-cut fries and a drink – that may be redeemed on a subsequent visit.
Local residents should not be surprised if loyal fans – affectionately known as “Caniacs” – decide to campout overnight to be the first in line for their favorite chicken fingers. Similar scenes have played out at Raising Cane’s first four California grand openings in Orange County over the last several months.
“Tuesday is going to be a huge day for Raising Cane’s and I couldn’t be more excited and honored to introduce the good people of Downey and L.A. County to our brand,” said General Manager Sam Fonseca, a 15-year veteran of restaurant operations in southern California. “My crew and I can’t wait to open our doors and start sharing our ONE LOVE® – quality chicken finger meals – with a whole new group of Caniacs.”
Founded by Todd Graves in 1996 and named for his yellow Labrador, Raising Cane’s recently earned the distinction of being among the Top 10 quick service restaurant chains in the nation for 2015, according to the authoritative Sandelman & Associates Quick-Track study, based on food quality, customer service, cleanliness and other important factors.
In addition to its focus on chicken fingers, Raising Cane’s is renowned for its commitment to active involvement in its local communities. The restaurant recently supplied the Warren High School Marching Band Camp with free lemonade and sweet tea and is sponsoring the Downey Chamber’s golf tournament in August.
And on Wednesday, Aug. 24, Fonseca and his fellow crewmembers volunteered at TLC Family Resource Center, where they added several large flower pots, planters and foliage to the front of the building to improve its aesthetics. TLC is dedicated to creating a True Lasting Connection between the City of Downey and families of the Downey Unified School District to ensure healthy and successful futures for local children.
“We were proud to pitch in at TLC for our pre-opening service project,” said Fonseca. “They are an outstanding organization that does wonderful work with our local school kids. But we’re just getting started with our support of the local community. You’ll see us getting heavily involved with the entire DUSD and with many other local not-for-profits.”
Hours of operation at the Downey restaurant are Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m., and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 a.m. The Golden State’s fifth Raising Cane’s marks the 281st restaurant in its nationwide system.
