Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers

Aliso Viejo Welcomes California’s 2nd Raising Cane’s

Popular chain with focus on chicken fingers, community involvement, prepares for Dec. 1 grand opening, with an assist from Olympic figure skating pair

Last month, dozens of self-proclaimed “Caniacs” camped out overnight to be among the first in line for the opening of California’s first Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers restaurant.

Now the popular Louisiana-based chain known for its ONE LOVE® – quality chicken finger meals – is preparing to open its second Orange County restaurant, at 26801 Aliso Creek Road in the Aliso Creek Town Center, on Tuesday, Dec. 1. And the local Caniacs are stirring again…

Grand opening festivities begin at 9:15 a.m. with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Aliso Viejo Chamber of Commerce, Mayor Bill Phillips and other local dignitaries. First-time visitors will be treated to traditional cheers and other high-energy chants to launch the location in unique Cane’s fashion, compliments of its 65-70 newly hired crewmembers. Doors open to the public at 10 a.m.

To add to the excitement, Olympic figure skaters Todd Sand and Jenni Meno – who are featured on the local hero wall inside the new restaurant – will also be on-hand for the festivities.

As if that’s not enough, the first 20 paying, dine-in customers ages 13 and older will receive Free Cane’s for a Year! In addition, the first 100 paying, dine-in customers ages 13 and older will receive a free Cane’s Aliso Viejo T-shirt, along with a voucher for a free Box Combo – containing four fresh, never ever frozen chicken fingers, Texas toast, secret recipe Cane’s sauce, coleslaw, crinkle-cut fries and a drink – that may be redeemed on a subsequent visit.

“Caniacs came out in full force for our California debut last month, and we can’t wait to introduce our ONE LOVE to the people of Aliso Viejo next,” said General Manager Bobbi Frye, an avid marathoner and adventure runner whose daughter works at the Cane’s in Costa Mesa. “It’s going to be a great day and the continuation of something truly special here in Orange County.”

Founded by Todd Graves in 1996 and named for his yellow Labrador, Raising Cane’s recently earned the distinction of being among the top four quick service restaurant chains in the nation for 2014, according to the authoritative Sandelman & Associates Quick-Track study, based on food quality, customer service, cleanliness and other important factors.

In addition to its focus on chicken fingers, Raising Cane’s is renowned for its commitment to active involvement in its local communities. In recent weeks, the restaurant has supported several area organizations, including the I.C.A.R.E. Dog Rescue of Rancho Santa Margarita (which will be the beneficiary of the restaurant’s holiday plush puppy sales), the Orange Pet Hospital, the Ante Up for Autism Gala, the Spark of Love Toy Drive, Don Juan Avila Elementary School, Aliso Niguel High School and the Aliso Viejo Community Association.

And on Friday, Nov. 20, Frye and her fellow crewmembers hosted a donation site to help Aliso Niguel students collect canned food for the Second Harvest Food Bank prior to the Thanksgiving holiday.

“This area is home to a wide array of wonderful charities, service organizations and schools, and we are very proud to support them,” said Frye. “We had a lot of fun helping the Aliso Niguel students with their food drive and we will continue to pitch in wherever we can to keep Aliso Viejo a great place to live, work, play and eat.”

Hours of operation at the new Aliso Viejo restaurant are Sunday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 12 a.m., and Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. The Golden State’s second Raising Cane’s marks the 248th restaurant in the chain’s nationwide system.
