Waxahachie ‘Caniacs’ Prepare to Welcome 1st Raising Cane’s

It’s been a long time coming, but Caniacs in Waxahachie will finally welcome their first Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers to town next week.

The popular Louisiana-based restaurant company known for its ONE LOVE® – quality chicken finger meals – will celebrate its grand opening on Tuesday, Feb. 16, marking the 34th Raising Cane’s in the DFW area, the 86th in the state of Texas and the 255th system-wide.

Located at 1600 Dallas Highway, the new restaurant will kick off the festivities at 9:30 a.m. with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony conducted by the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce, Waxahachie ISD leaders and other community officials. First-time visitors will be treated to traditional cheers and other high-energy chants to launch the location in unique Cane’s fashion, compliments of its 45-50 newly hired crewmembers. Doors open to the public at 10 a.m.

To add to the opening day excitement, the first 20 paying, dine-in customers ages 13 and older will receive Free Cane’s for a Year! In addition, the first 100 paying, dine-in customers ages 13 and older will receive a free Cane’s Waxahachie T-shirt, along with a voucher for a free Box Combo – containing four fresh, never ever frozen chicken fingers, Texas toast, secret recipe Cane’s sauce, coleslaw, crinkle-cut fries and a drink – that may be redeemed on a subsequent visit.

In addition, 106.9 The Ranch will be on-site playing today’s country hits from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday.

“There are more Raising Cane’s in North Texas than anywhere else on the planet, but none in Waxahachie…until now,” said General Manager Harvey Borrego. “We’re excited to finally bring our ONE LOVE to the people of Waxahachie, and we’ve already begun partnering with local schools and other community organizations to help keep this city a great place to live, work, eat and play.”

Founded by Todd Graves in 1996 and named for his beloved yellow Labrador, Raising Cane’s mission extends beyond the kitchen and into the community with each grand opening. Recently, Borrego and 13 of his fellow crewmembers volunteered at the Wags-A-Hachie Dog Park, where they helped paint, cut grass, trim trees and clean up the facility.

Raising Cane’s has likewise lent its support to the Waxahachie youth soccer and baseball programs and exhibited at a recent career fair at Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU). The company will be sponsoring the Waxahachie ISD’s spring golf tournament, donating box lunches to the March 20 School Board meeting and partnering with the school district to honor the city’s school employees for Teachers Appreciation Day, May 3.

From Feb. 16 through 23, customers of the newest Raising Cane’s will also be invited to participate in the company’s “Give Back Giveaway” tradition, in which one lucky customer will win a $1,000 donation to his or her local charity of choice, along with Free Cane’s for a Year.

Hours of operation at the new Waxahachie restaurant are Sunday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 12 a.m.
