Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers

San Marcos ‘Caniacs’ Celebrate Arrival of 1st Raising Cane’s

Popular chicken finger chain known for active community involvement opens Thursday

SAN MARCOS, TX (Oct. 19, 2015) – They’ve watched the restaurant going up along Highway 80 for the last several months. Now, Caniacs across San Marcos can practically taste their favorite chicken fingers and, yes, that addictive secret sauce…

Raising Cane’s, the popular Louisiana-based chain known for its ONE LOVE® – quality chicken finger meals – will celebrate the grand opening of its first San Marcos restaurant on Thursday, Oct. 22.

Conveniently located at 928 Highway 80 in San Marcos – just minutes from Texas State University, Tanger Outlet Mall and the Central Texas Medical Center – the new restaurant will kick off the festivities at 9:30 a.m. with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony conducted by the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce and other invited guests. The Texas State Cheerleaders and Mascot, Boko the Bobcat, will also be on-hand for the celebration.

First-time visitors will be treated to traditional cheers and other high-energy chants to launch the location in unique Cane’s fashion, compliments of its 55-60 newly hired crewmembers. Doors open to the public at 10 a.m.

To add to the opening day excitement, the first 20 paying, dine-in customers ages 13 and older will receive Free Cane’s for a Year! In addition, the first 100 paying, dine-in customers will receive a free Cane’s San Marcos T-shirt, along with a voucher for a free Box Combo – containing four fresh, never ever frozen chicken fingers, Texas toast, secret recipe Cane’s sauce, coleslaw, crinkle-cut fries and a drink – that may be redeemed on a subsequent visit.

“We’re so excited to introduce the people of San Marcos to our ONE LOVE,” said General Manager Alan Castillo, who has worked at Raising Cane’s since 2007 and relocated from Nacogdoches to open the new restaurant. “It’s really fun because the Caniacs have already started coming out of the woodwork. And we’re all looking forward to getting intimately involved in the local community, which is a major part of our DNA.”

Founded by Todd Graves in 1996 and named for his beloved yellow Labrador, Raising Cane’s mission extends beyond the kitchen and into the community with each grand opening. On Friday, Oct. 16, Castillo and about 15 crewmembers volunteered at the Hays County Food Bank, weighing and sorting food, creating food boxes and bags for pickup, loading and unloading vans, cleaning up and pitching in as needed. Castillo will also be presenting a $1,000 donation to Denise Blok, Executive Director of the food bank, during the grand opening ceremonies.

“The Hays County Food Bank is a wonderful organization committed to feeding hungry people throughout the area, and we’re proud to dedicate our time around the grand opening to supporting their mission,” said Castillo. “But we’re only just beginning with our work here in San Marcos. We’re also reaching out to the local schools and other not-for-profits to see how we can best serve the people of this great community.”

On Oct. 10, Raising Cane’s was a sponsor of the Pet Prevent a Litter (PALS) of Central Texas 13th Annual PetFest, which raised funds for spay/neuter programs, pet pantry and other important services.

Raising Cane’s is also an Official Proud Partner of Texas State University.

The San Marcos opening marks the 78th Raising Cane’s in the Lone Star State and the 236th system-wide. Hours of operation at the new restaurant are Sunday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 1:00 a.m.
