Arkansas Caniacs Finally Get A Raising Cane’s of Their Own

Popular chain with focus on chicken fingers, community involvement, prepares for Aug. 6 grand opening in Fayetteville

 It’s been a long time coming, but chicken finger lovers in Razorback Nation can finally circle their calendars for the arrival of Arkansas’ first Raising Cane’s.

The rapidly growing chain’s newest restaurant, located at 859 East Millsap Road in Fayetteville, is preparing for its grand opening this Thursday, Aug. 6. Local residents should not be surprised if loyal fans of the Louisiana-based chain – affectionately known as “Caniacs” – decide to campout overnight to be the first in line for their favorite chicken finger meals.

Grand opening festivities begin at 9:30 a.m. with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce and Raising Cane’s VIPs. Members of the University of Arkansas pom squad will also be on hand, alongside representatives of Fayetteville High School.

First-time visitors will be treated to traditional cheers and other high-energy chants to launch the location in unique Cane’s fashion, compliments of its 45-50 newly hired crewmembers. Doors open to the public at 10 a.m.

To add to the opening day excitement, the first 10 paying, dine-in customers ages 13 and older will receive Free Cane’s for a Year! In addition, the first 100 paying, dine-in customers ages 13 and older will receive a free Cane’s Fayetteville T-shirt, along with a voucher for a free Box Combo – containing four fresh, never ever frozen chicken fingers, Texas toast, secret recipe Cane’s sauce, coleslaw, crinkle-cut fries and a drink – that may be redeemed on a subsequent visit.

“This will be my eighth Raising Cane’s opening, but I’ve never been as excited as I am to open up here in Fayetteville,” said General Manager Jason Galland. “Even though this will be the first Cane’s in Arkansas, it’s crazy how many Caniacs already live here. I know it because they’re coming out of the woodwork, asking me when we’re opening so they can get their chicken finger fix!”

Founded by Todd Graves in 1996 and named for his yellow Labrador, Raising Cane’s recently earned the distinction of being among the top four quick service restaurant chains in the nation for 2014, according to the authoritative Sandelman & Associates Quick-Track study, based on food quality, customer service, cleanliness and other important factors. On July 31, Galland and roughly 15 of his fellow crewmembers volunteered at the Yvonne Richardson Community Center, where they helped clean the food pantry, built donation boxes and even played a spirited round of dodge ball with summer campers.

“The YRCC is an absolutely top-notch organization, and we were proud to support them through our grand opening community service project,” said Galland. “But I can promise you one thing: That’s just one of many ways we intend to support the people and organizations of this great city.”

Galland and his crew are working with First Thursday Fayetteville in Downtown Square and the Fayetteville High School Bulldogs athletic program, and they are Proud Partners of Razorback Athletics.

From Aug. 6 through 13, customers of the newest Raising Cane’s will also be invited to participate in the company’s “Give Back Giveaway” tradition, in which one lucky customer will win a $1,000 donation to his or her local charity of choice, along with Free Cane’s for a Year.

Hours of operation at the Fayetteville restaurant are Sunday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. Arkansas’ first Raising Cane’s marks the 228th restaurant in the chain’s nationwide system.
