WICHITA FALLS, TX – They’ve been waiting. Patiently. For longer than they’d care to admit.
On Thursday, the fortitude of local “Caniacs,” as they are known, will be rewarded when Wichita Falls’ first Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers restaurant opens at 3801 Kell Boulevard, on the southwest corner of Kell and Lawrence Road in front of The Home Depot.
The Louisiana-based chain known for its passionate followers and its ONE LOVE® -- quality chicken finger meals – has scheduled its much-anticipated grand opening for Thursday, September 26th, at 10:00 AM. This will be the 49th Raising Cane’s in Texas and 164th nationwide.
David McGuffin, General Manager of the newest Cane’s, is excited to introduce the rapidly growing brand to the local market.
“Believe it or not, Wichita Falls is loaded with Caniacs, judging by all the people I’ve met that keep telling me they can’t wait till we open,” said McGuffin. “So it’s going to be a lot of fun welcoming in the diehards while watching the Cane’s newbies get their first taste of our awesome chicken fingers and addictive Cane’s sauce.”
Since its founding in 1996, Raising Cane’s has been distinguished by its generous support of the communities it serves.
On September 20th, McGuffin and his Crewmembers volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club of Wichita Falls, helping to move playground equipment to Camp Graham Ball.
The restaurant is also sponsoring the athletic program in the Wichita Falls Independent School District and plans are underway to support Midwestern State University as well.
“One of the things I love most about working at Raising Cane’s is that our commitment to community service starts at the very top and is a part of almost everything we do at the local restaurant level,” said McGuffin. “We’re just getting started here in Wichita Falls, but we intend to be a very active partner with our local schools and other not-for-profit organizations for many years to come.”
“We also invite all the active-duty service members and their spouses stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base to come by and take advantage of our 10 percent ‘Hero’s discount,’” said McGuffin.
Grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremonies will be conducted at 9:30 AM on September 26th in conjunction with the Wichita Falls Chamber of Commerce and other local dignitaries. First-time visitors to the ceremonies are in for a treat, as 45-50 newly hired Crewmembers will be performing their traditional cheers and other high-energy chants to launch the new location in unique Cane’s fashion.
The restaurant will officially open to the public at 10:00 AM. The first 100 paying, dine-in customers will receive a commemorative Wichita Falls Cane’s T-shirt, along with a voucher for a free Box Combo – containing four fresh, never ever frozen chicken fingers, Texas toast, secret recipe Cane’s sauce, coleslaw, crinkle-cut fries and a drink – that may be redeemed on a subsequent visit.
Between September 26th and October 3rd, customers of the newest Raising Cane’s will also be invited to participate in the company’s “Give Back Giveaway” tradition, in which one customer will win a $1,000 donation to his or her local charity of choice, along with Free Cane’s for a Year.
In February, Raising Cane’s earned the distinction of #1 Quick Service Restaurant Chain in the Nation for 2012, according to the authoritative Sandelman & Associates Quick-Track study. In addition to scoring top overall honors, Cane’s earned six additional first-place awards. More than 63 percent of Raising Cane’s customers rated their most recent visit “excellent” overall (rating of “5” on a 5-point scale).
