As if one could ever be enough for a city like Austin.
With its first Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers going gangbusters in the heart of town off West MLK Boulevard, the locals are craving even more love, and they’ll get it next month when a second Cane’s opens inside the Austin city limits on Thursday, May 29.
General Manager Doug Johnson is gearing up to spread the Louisiana-based chain’s ONE LOVE® – quality chicken finger meals – to residents and businesses on the west side at 3201 Bee Cave Road, near Westlake High School. The 10-year Austin resident, promises a grand opening worthy of the addictive chicken fingers themselves, with a little help from the Westlake Chamber of Commerce. A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 9:30 a.m. and doors open at 10 a.m.
Johnson said he’s proud to be a part of the local expansion of Raising Cane’s, which has consistently been named one of the “Best Companies To Work For” in communities throughout its system. Not one to be associated with anything ordinary, Cane’s also served up samples of its freshly brewed sweet tea at the Pecan St. Festival May 3-4, sponsored and participated in the 17th Annual Mighty Texas Dog Walk on May 17 and will be at the Keep Austin Weird Festival on June 28 with bells on.
“We know two things for sure: Austin is laid-back, friendly and a little funky, and the folks here love our chicken fingers,” Johnson said. “I’m really excited about spreading our ONE LOVE throughout the city and doing our part to keep Austin not just weird, but one of the coolest places to live in the country.”
Grand opening festivities start at 10 a.m. on May 29, with the first 10 customers in line receiving Free Cane’s for a Year! In addition, the first 100 paying, dine-in customers will receive a commemorative Austin Cane’s T-shirt, along with a voucher for a free Box Combo – containing four fresh, never ever frozen chicken fingers, Texas toast, secret recipe Cane’s sauce, coleslaw, crinkle-cut fries and a drink – that may be redeemed on a subsequent visit.
Raising Cane’s mission extends beyond the kitchen and into the community with each grand opening, and Austin is no exception. As a welcome gift to the neighborhood, Johnson will head up a pre-opening service project at the Austin Animal Shelter, during which he and his fellow crewmembers will walk, play with and feed the dogs. The new restaurant will also donate proceeds from a pre-opening event to the shelter.
Between May 29 and June 5, customers of the newest Raising Cane’s will also be invited to participate in the company’s “Give Back Giveaway” tradition, in which one customer will win a $1,000 donation to his or her local charity of choice, along with Free Cane’s for a Year.
Austin’s newest Cane’s is the 51st in the Lone Star State and the 184th nationwide. Caniacs living north of Austin proper can also get their chicken fingers fix in Cedar Park at 1456 E. Whitestone Blvd.
