Kay Dylan Restaurants
The Achords did not start out in the restaurant industry - far from it, actually. Chad Achord worked in the petroleum industry for 6 years managing operations for a petroleum survey company. Amanda Achord started in the real estate industry as a marketing manager for a developer, and then worked for Lamar Outdoor Advertising based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Only after frequently dining at the original Raising Cane’s® location at the North gates of Louisiana State University did the Achords decide they wanted to become involved with this dynamic concept. With hopes of owning a Cane’s of their own one day, Amanda and Chad interviewed and were hired as Shift Managers for Cane’s in 2003 and 2004, respectively.
After about a year, both were promoted to General Managers of their Restaurants in Baton Rouge. Amanda then went on to work at the Restaurant Support Office in marketing and Chad became part of the New Restaurant Opening (NRO) team. After much hard work and determination, they both proved that they could be Franchisees. The only thing left to do was pick a location! Todd Graves and the Operations team showed the Achords a pre-approved list of locations consisting of college towns all across the country. With family all over the South, they considered centrally located Norman. The Achord’s visited Norman the weekend of University of Oklahoma's Homecoming in 2004, fell in love with the town, and the rest is history.
Chad and Amanda moved from Baton Rouge to Norman in August 2005, coincidentally just a few days before Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast. The Achords opened their first Cane’s at 12th and Alameda on November 10, 2005, their second Restaurant on OU’s Campus in October of 2012, and their third at 36th and W. Main in November of 2013. Although the Achords still bleed purple and gold, they absolutely love raising their family in Sooner Country and are proud OU supporters!
